John Fogerty - Wednesday 18th June - Earth Arts Centre, Hackney

Brief review:
The people of Hackney are treated tonight with the presence of a genuine International superstar. 50 million albums sold and 3 songs with over a billion streams on Spotify. Mr John Fogerty, founder of Credence Clearwater Revival is in town to chat and play to people who have bought his new Legacy record from Rough Trade. It's a chat and play event in a new venue for us - which has the look of a 1930's art deco theatre. A 45 minute chat and then brief live set was fair value for the £25 (including CD) paid and about as much as the tiered wooden terrace with no cushioning or seat backs would allow for my aging limbs. And in case you were guessing the biggest streamer - Have You Ever Seen The Rain has over 2 billion streams on Spotify. Nice!

Venue and View:  "Terrace Seating" - ie very uncomfortable sitting on a wooden "shelf" on the left hand side towards the front.

John Fogerty / Steve Miller - Thursday 25th October - O2 Arena

A nice double header at the O2. Original seat prices had been well over £100 (outrageous), but we sensibly bided our time and waited for the inevitable 2-1 offer which duly arrived a couple of weeks before showtime with half-decent seats at the side.

I've never seen Steve Miller before, but like enough of his hits to know that I should enjoy his set and indeed I did.

It will come as no surprise to seasoned blog observers that Mr Fogerty is a favourite and looking at the CCR-heavy setlist, you'll see that he delivered just what the doctor ordered. The only criticism is that it all felt a little rushed and the addition of Tyler Fogerty on vocals for 2 numbers did little to add to the occasion. Another son was in the band on guitar.

But all in all, for half price, a very good evening.

John Fogerty - Hammersmith Apollo - Thursday 29th June

"And I like it, I like it, I like It, I like it, I la la la like it..." etc. John Fogerty is probably best known in the UK for being the writer of "Rockin' All Over The World", but in the rest of the World, he is known as the voice of Creedence Clearwater Revival. In this, his first British show in living memory, he ran through a near-perfect setlist (except for the absent "Almost Saturday Night") with great enthusiasm and a boisterous crowd (sporting, bizarrely an array of T Shirts including AC/DC and Pearl Jam) of all ages.

An excellent band, including Billy Burnett (last spotted with Fleetwood Mac) backed up an energetic performance from Mr Fogerty (who must be at least in his late 50's). Recommended! PS if you got there late expecting to miss the support - there wasn't any! He came on at 8:10 and you could have easily missed half the show due to poor ticket information.
